I know EXACTLY what you are all thinking right now… When will your rash go away?… The bad news is, that’s your life now, you’ll just have to get some ointment when it flares up.

I keep promising people at Cons that I am so ADHD that I am shocked if I remember to send a newsletter… and once or twice a year seems to be my norm. I should improve on that, but I also don’t want to waste anyone’s time unless I have some real news.
But since I don’t have news, I’ll just give you some personal stuff.
I haven’t been doing that many cons because I’ve been busy as hell and broke as hell. This last year I’ve been articling with a law firm that was dumb enough to think I’d make a good lawyer, truth of the matter is, I’m actually not that shabby considering I’m super ethical and empathetic. Clients like me, that says something about a legal counsel. While I have been learning a great deal, there have been some struggles at home with health and wellness, me and my partner are doing great, don’t worry about that, and our little goober Ruby, who you may have had the luxury of meeting at a Con is also doing amazing. My time has just been robbed from me. Now that my time has been coming back, I have started my PREP course, which is the Alberta version of the Bar exam… that has been taking up the vast majority of my spare time. Once this is all done I should have more time than I can shake a stick at.
Issue 4?
So where is issue 4? the storyboarding and sketching is done save for a few of the last pages. Literally all I have to do now is do the line art and draw a cover and some of the fun pages I put on the back and inside covers (I do that while my Editor is reviewing the guts). Oh, I wanna do a shout out to Shawn my editor… FYI, dude has not charged me for his work on issues 3 and 4, despite my attempts at sending him money.. I think he knows I’m not flush right now, or maybe he just likes my comic? but I haven’t made a big deal about it to him as he hasn’t made a big deal out of it to me, but I am not going to forget the gesture.
Issue 4 has had some serious hard parts to write; it gets pretty real now and then. But then the action scene has more guts than I ever got into before, so I am really hoping it interprets right for the readers.
Cons
I am fresh off Grande Con 5… It was my worst time for sales, despite it having a lot of people attending. The celebrities just aren’t the kind that would interest the people who like indie comics. I got to see this awesome kid who has issue 1-3 already and the fam was with him getting a pair of issue 3D, I HAD to give him one of the new OWLG t-shirts cuz he is just such a super fan and I love how excited he gets getting to read the comic. I also saw another fan who was with his parents who were dressed up in ridiculously amazing Borg costumes, I wanted to chat with him more but I started having a serious anxiety attack and needed to catch my breath, I hope I didn’t come across as rude as he (and his family) are cool, but that is the realities of ADHD and a touch of the tism’.
OH! and there are these other guys who I see regularly, I can sit and chat lore with them for AGES! We just stood around for maybe a half an hour talking about OWLG lore and the cars Paradoxil drive, how it works, how the creator ever could have started things off to create the paradox that would run the drive, etc etc. We also chatted about future issues, the story-line and jokes. That stuff makes me happier than any sale ever could.
I recently did my second time at Grimshaw, their Mile Zero Fan Summit was awesome (again) and the organizers know what they are doing, there was just SO much for everyone to do! Sadly, I missed Dawson Creeks Creek Con as my sister got the whole family tickets to Mexico the same time… I’m not gonna say no to that. But I’m already registered for next years Creek Con. and Lastly I did Northern Fan Con in Prince George, and once again that was well worth my time! I met some amazing people, I got to see Cool Cat and Sly Dawg again who are my bros! also Caitlin and Ruby got to meet them too since they came along!
Okay, I think I am done ranting
